Inspired by the skies for over seven decades, independent, luxury Swiss watch manufacturer Oris has been producing specialist aviation watches ever since the launch of its first Oris Big Crown in 1938. Created to meet the demands of fighter pilots in Normandy, this heroic timepiece has since spawned a whole collection of elite sky-bound watches.
Part of the elite ProPilot range, this addition to the Big Crown family confirms Oris’ allegiance to the skies. Harnessing decades of flight experience into a specialist timepiece, the Oris Big Crown ProPilot Day Date is designed with the accuracy and functionality demands of a pilot at its core.
Acknowledging the aviator’s need for minimal distraction whilst in command, enhanced legibility forms the foundation of the Oris Big Crown ProPilot Day Date’s unique design. Special developments to its Oris Caliber 752 movement allow a bolder, enlarged calendar indicator; whilst eye-catching Super-Luminova® inlayed hands, indices and numerals perfectly contrast against a simplified black dial for rapid recognition. Housed beneath a double-domed anti-reflecting coated sapphire crystal, this elite aviation watch offers paramount clarity in the air.
Borrowing style inspiration from the powerful turbine jets under a pilots’ command, the Big Crown ProPilot Day Date’s striking bezel features a coin edged top ring, case back and crown reminiscent of an airplane’s formidable engines. Crafted from a resilient stainless-steel casing, this serious timepiece has been aesthetically balanced to ensure it aids its pilot within the cockpit and is also a stylish accompaniment on land. A true homage to the precision engineering and meticulous skill involved in flight, the special Oris Big Crown ProPilot Day Date is designed for the sky.
The watch case measures a 45.00mm diameter which houses an automatic mechanical movement Cal. 752, based on SW220 with enlarged date and day window at 3 o’clock. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters and comes with a textile strap with stainless steel folding clasp or alternately with leather strap or metal bracelet.
Over 100 years Oris has been making watches in Switzerland. Oris watches are purely mechanical and are marked out by their distinctive design as well as the red rotor, the symbol of Oris mechanicals. Oris watches are also popular, as celebrities from Formula One, diving, jazz and aviation wear and support their unique creations. Oris watches are manufactured by Swiss craftsmen and pass rigorous quality control tests at the company’s workshops in Hölstein. Oris offers the luxury of common sense which means the best possible watch for the money, using useful complications and functional designs.
