The iconic Hydroscaph H1 Chronometer Carbon Edition by Clerc was launched earlier this year designed to face the extreme conditions prevailing in the depths of the ocean. The watch is both powerful and sophisticated. Water-resistant to 500 meters, this deep-sea explorer is equipped with a high-tech patented case and an exclusive bezel avoiding any accidental deregulation while diving. Their perfectly accurate cutting-edge movement is certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
The deep black Hydroscaph H1 Chronometer Carbon Edition features a case combining the ultra-light, resistant character of carbon fiber with the strength of steel. The extremely technical 81-part case of the Hydroscaph H1 Chronograph is one of the most complex on the market and its components are individually machined. It complies with formidable standards and delivers guaranteed water resistance to 500 meters. Its generous 43.8 (or 48 mm including case protectors) diameter is topped by the iconic octagonal rotating bezel with its exclusive locking device. Pivoting its dedicated 2 o’clock requires the prior deployment of a retractable flap. Once the latter is returned to its initial retracted position, the bezel is secured against any inadvertent deregulation during diving. The 4 o’clock time-setting and winding crown ensures an optimal grip, while the 4 mm-thick sapphire crystal protects from scratches and violent impacts.
The apparently simple dial of the Hydroscaph H1 Chronometer models reflects extreme care devoted to style and design. The individually fashioned, beveled and subtly trapeze-shaped three-dimensional numerals and hour-markers ensure perfect read-off from any angle. Their optimal legibility is reinforced by a Superluminova coating applied to the hands and hour-markers with their post-industrial design.
At the heart of this new timepiece beats the exclusive Clerc C609 caliber. This remarkably precise self-winding movement has successfully undergone stringent tests. While undeniably complex with regards to its construction and its exceptional performance, it nonetheless radiates simplicity in terms of its functions, displaying only essentials: hours, minutes and seconds. Compliant in all respects with the demanding standards of haute horlogerie, it has a comfortable 42-hour power reserve. Finally, this finely crafted mechanism features the distinctive oscillating weight of Clerc movements and is visible through the case back fitted with twin sapphire apertures.
