With its third contribution to the Only Watch charity, the Flying Regulator Red Passion, Chronoswiss exceeded its own expectations at the auction. The estimate for this unique timepiece was between CHF 9,000 and CHF 16,000. When the hammer finally came down on November 11 at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva, the exceptional version of the brand´s iconic Flying Regulator was sold at CHF 19,000.
All in all, the 50 lots raised CHF 10,776,500 (€9,289,434 CHF 10,776,500) for research against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The name “Red Passion” was derived from a spectacular guilloche dial in flaming red, against which the hands and numerals stand out in bright coral red. This special color combination was inspired by the eternal power of love and passion that is key to almost everything in life.
As these emotions are the most important driving forces for human beings, the red colors seemed to be predestined for a timepiece aiming to support such a heartfelt charity as the Only Watch, which also involves an enormous amount of passion in the fight against the malicious disease.
The Flying Regulator Red Passion shines with its classic DLC coated case, as well as with its elaborate dial construction on several levels, which lends the timepiece a stunning 3-D effect. A glance through the sapphire crystal on the back (which Chronoswiss was the first to introduce in the 1980s) provides a view of the oscillating weight which has been skeletonized and especially crafted for this occasion in the same bright red as the dial.
Inside this exquisite watch, the tried and tested manufacture caliber C.122, which already moved the legendary Regulateur Automatique, the first automatic model featuring a regulator-style dial, is ticking.
